Information about Cardiac Imaging (CT and/or MRI) RESEARCH activities
       at the MetroHealth Medical Center

This (outdated) web page also contains older info on FRA (2005-2006 period)
Dr Duerinckx used to work for FRA, but has moved to Cleveland , OH in Dec 2006.
FRA and Excel imaging in North Carolina continue to offer these Cardiac CT services.

Most Research will be conducted at
the MetroHealth Medical Center.

My research prior to 2007 was conducted at FRA OUTPATIENT Imaging centers.
However, we also conduct research at
Forsyth Medical Center (Novant Health).

Directions to FRA Facilities
(click to download map):

Maplewood Imaging Center (MIC) - location of Conference Room & Business Office
Greystone Imaging Center (GIC)- Location for outpatient CT studies

Salem MRI Center - Location for outpatient Cardiac MRI studies.
These facilities and their addresses are all described on the Forsyth Radiological Associates (FRA) web site.

LIST of ACTIVE Cardiac Imaging RESEARCH Projects prior to November 2006:

FLAME TRIAL

Duke Cardiovascular MR Center (DCMRC) will be performing the Cardiac MRI Core Lab duties for the FLAME Trial, sponsored by Boston Scientific Corp

(Non-active)

The FLAME study protocol. The trial is a multi-center, prospective study with up to 60 participating clinical sites, 240 Ôroll-inÕ patients and up to 500 randomized patients. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the FilterWire EZ device in patients undergoing primary PCI/stenting for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction. Patientswill be randomized to either of two treatment groups :
1) FilterWire EZ device or 2) No distal protection.

Measurements obtained from the MRI scan to be performed on Day 5 - Day 14 after myocardialinfarction will be used to provide information about the effectiveness of the FilterWire EZ device. The primary MRI endpoint to be compared between the treatment groups is infarct size which willbe obtained from the delayed contrast-enhanced MR images. Secondary MRI endpoints include the presence and size of the no-reflow zone, end-systolic and end-diastolic volumes and ejectionfraction.
Peripheral MRA  Trial

Sponsored by GE Healthcare

(Trial finished in early 2006)

"Protocol SOV302"

A Multicentre, Phase 3, Open-Label Study to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of 0.1 mmol/kg Omniscanª (Gadodiamide Injection) for Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) of the Aorto-iliac Arteries

2005-2006
Contrast-enhanced CT in patients at risk Sponsored by GE Healthcare

"Protocol DXV406"

VisipaqueTM in subjects with impaired renal function and diabetes mellitus undergoing high flow multidetector-row helical CT. A multicentre, randomised, parallel group, double-blind, phase IV study to compare the nonionic iso-osmolar contrast medium (IOCM), VisipaqueTM, with a nonionic low osmolar contrast medium (LOCM).

2005-2006
MRI of Old Infarcts Sponsored by Berlex Compare delayed hyperenehancmeent of old infarcts using two doses of contrast.

Coronary CT Angiography Trial TBA
